(6 Credits) (90 Semester/Clock Hours)

This course provides students with the appropriate knowledge necessary to be a competent and safe Flight Instructor, and be prepared to pass the required FAA Fundamentals of Instructing and Flight Instructor Airplane Written Exams. Emphasis will be placed on the Fundamentals of Instructing including the learning process, elements of effective teaching, student evaluation and testing, course development, lesson planning , classroom training techniques as well as all appropriate aeronautical knowledge areas for a recreational, private and commercial pilot certificate applicable to the airplane category.

This course is divided into 3 stages:

  • Stage I - Fundamentals of Instructing
  • Stage II - Technical Subject Areas
  • Stage III - Techniques of Flight Instruction related to various tasks, procedures and maneuvers in accordance with the appropriate Practical Test Standards
